I work on the problem of a machine knowing where it is. At Niulinx that means LiDAR mapping, sensor fusion, and the high-definition map pipelines that sit underneath an autonomous vehicle's estimate of its own position.
Before Niulinx I spent two years as a research assistant in the AIDA group at Politecnico di Milano, working on the research the company was later spun out of. My MSc thesis there fused OpenStreetMap road geometry, LiDAR and GNSS through a particle filter. What holds my attention is the seam between a map and the sensors reading it — the places where road geometry, point clouds and satellite fixes disagree, and something has to decide which one to believe.

Elsewhere
Calisthenics and padel most weeks, trekking when the mountains cooperate, and a standing board game night that eventually turned into a research project. Before all this I taught maths, physics and robotics.
